Asana, the physical postures- is just one of the 8 limbs. I like to think of it as a small little limb that you use to just catch your footing before you jump up to a bigger branch with a bigger view.
Yoga is such a beautiful journey of the self, through the self, to the Self. Honestly, in teacher training- it's ALLLLLL of that. I learned so much about myself in yoga teacher training- more than I think I had ever even thought of wanting to know. I discovered parts of myself that I had hidden for years, for a lifetime. I discovered parts of myself that have been scratching at the door trying to come out. I also blossomed into these new paths that I forged myself! I rewrote my script and I healed 7 generations back by doing the work.

With the New Year creeping upon us, we all start thinking of all of these massive goals we want to undertake!

Pay off the debt

I am right there with you! I want to tackle it all and all at once! I look at the New Year as I brand new day, brand new life- the life I want to be living and I know I can be. However, when we set a ton of goals (which is completely acceptable- we just need to work on our approach) and try to tackle them all at once, we can find ourselves burnt out when we don't see immediate results.
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" and that step can be as simple as drinking one cup of water.
I recommend, as it works for me and may not for you and that's ok, writing down the goals you want to tackle. If you have a planner (do people still use paper planners?! I do!!), tape it to the inside. You can also tape it to your mirror, your fridge, on your phone- whatever you need to do to see it every day. And by looking at the planner- I consciously choose one goal to make a step towards that day.
If you need to- break down how you will achieve that goal! For example- more water. Maybe by a large water bottle that has the capacity to hold the ounces you need in a day for your body weight. I did this last year and you would be surprised at how easy it is now for me to drink the amount of water my body needs! And is no longer a chore that I need to keep up with how much I've consumed.

Chances are, if you have taken a yoga class- you have heard the saying "Keep your eyes on your mat" or "Keep your eyes on your eyes" (if there is a mirror in the room). Just about every teacher will say it. We don't say it to be redundant or to fill space with sound, because if you teach anything like me- I want less words and more silence for you to find yourself on that mat!
What does it mean to keep your eyes on your mat?
It means you are here SOLELY (solely: not involving anyone or anything else; only) for yourself and your own journey. You come to your mat, your sacred space, and you practice for you. It's not about how you look, what yoga clothes you have on, did you "master" the posture, because your friends are doing it, etc. You are on that mat because you need to be. It also means, keep your eyes to yourself. Now while physically looking down the entire class is not what we are aiming for- we ask that you look inwards at yourself. Not what is going on in the room around you, on the street, out in the world- we are asking that you look at what is going on inside of you! Physically, mentally, spiritually. The moment you begin to watch another person and their practice- you come out of your practice and you are now in their sacred space.
There are so many things that can spiral (downward) here:
We spend our days busy busy busy and constantly avoiding the Truth that wants to come through to us. Yoga gives us that opportunity to turn on, tune in, and drop out! Drop out of this "real" world filled with facades that further bring us down into that spiral of negativity and tune in to the ananda, bliss, of the REAL world of love and light.

Womb Wellness Yoga: Fertility, Prenatal, Reproductive Health
Why every woman needs this class!
So- I will be the first person to say that womb wellness is so important! But I didn't understand it until almost a year ago... My husband and I tried to conceive for close to 9 months.
No one really tells you that it doesn't just happen over night- much less those first few months...
After 6 months of trying- I was just ready to give up... that's when I reached out to my girlfriend Lisa and asked her if she could lead a fertility yoga class at the studio. I found through our journey that many other women were in the same situation as me... they didn't get pregnant as fast as they thought they would! Lisa through her amazing prenatal training was able to lead us through a wonderful class full of twists and pelvic floor work to better promote fertility! " Running water clears itself"! You gotta keep everything moving. Still waters becomes stagnant and stagnant water creates disease.
After the class- we started doing Prenatal Yoga Classes with a few pregnant mommas and she allowed us fertility ladies to join in on the class- the theme is common... promote pelvic floor health, decrease stress, and nurturing your body!
After taking two of Lisa's classes... we finally conceived and hoping to welcome our sweet bundle of joy on 12/1/18 :)
Now I'm not saying this is a cure all for infertility or healing some difficult pregnancies. But I will say that these classes helped me realize there was more to conception than we all think. Lisa was able to educate me on what I needed to do to prepare my body for conception and now what I need to do to have a healthy delivery and recovery!
