![]() “Fight Hunger” is the first of what Hannah and I hope to be several events throughout the year to benefit our community. We are of the mind if you want the world to be good, you have to do good. This is our attempt to help that along. In putting this event together we wanted something that could impact people on multiple levels. While we are helping to fill empty bellies we are also educating people on the capabilities of their body. The better we understand how the body works, the more confident we are in our ability to defend ourselves. What to wear: Sweats or workout clothes are fine. Jeans and a shirt are fine too. I would suggest something you don’t mind getting a little sweaty or a little stretched out. The experience: The popular thing to do these days is to yell and shout, the idea being that you train for that stressful encounter. I find that to be counterproductive and frankly produces people with poor skill, especially if it’s your first time being introduced to these skills. It has been my experience that if you can’t do it in a relaxed environment you can’t do it in a stressed environment. This class will be a little more light-hearted, focused on proper body mechanics, but you’ll still get to hit pads and knock people around. Questions are welcomed and smiles required. Material: This class will focus on empty hand encounters. We’ll cover topics like signs of conflict, operating under stress, body state, escaping grabs, controlling your opponent, and counter striking tactics. The class is scheduled to last an hour but I do tend to talk a lot so time may run over a bit. We look forward to seeing you there! Sihing David vincere et oriri
